Sample Mailings
Each month the Fly of the Month Club staff of expert anglers chooses a specific fly pattern for the Freshwater and Saltwater Flies of the Month. To view this months actual Fly of the Month Bulletin simply click on the Fly of the Month link at the top of this page.
For the most part, these are time tested patterns proven to catch the fish of their specific application. The flies themselves are of the highest quality we can find tied on hooks of superior design and strength.
In many cases we will offer various color schemes and sizes of the pattern if appropriate to the design. Hook sizes offered will be those most germane to the type of fish sought and color choices offered will be the most effective and popular for that pattern.
With each mailing of flies you will also receive a two page Bulletin that discusses the fly pattern, its history, the prey it imitates and how to fish it. These concise and varied articles are designed to improve your knowledge base and help make you a better angler.
As a Freshwater Trout Member you will receive 4-10 Trout Flies each Month. An example of the mailing for the Adams pattern would be as follows:
2 ea Female Adams with egg sac size 16
2 ea Adams Midge size 20
2 ea Adams Dun size 14
2 ea Adams Dun size 16
2 ea Adams Parachute size 12
As a Saltwater Flats Member you will receive 2-8 Saltwater Flies each Month. The patterns will vary by species to cover the diversity of fly fishing on the Flats with patterns alternating for Bonefish, Permit and Tarpon. Occasionally we will insert an alternate species pattern for Shark and Cuda or offer All-Purpose flies such as Poppers and Sliders. An example of the mailing for the Crazy Charlie pattern would be as follows:
