Eggs: Brook Trout, Brown Trout and Char are Fall spawners, Rainbow, Cutthroat and Steelhead are Spring spawners. Pacific Salmon species spawn at various times from June until December. The point is that there are often natural eggs in the water as a food source. Egg patterns work well on trout not just during a Salmon or Steelhead run but more so in the basic spawning periods of Spring and Fall. Size is of equal importance to color.
