Chucks Caddis Variant Dry Fly: Chuck Strananhan developed this pattern to fish Steelhead on the Sacramento River The term Variant refers to the use of hackle collars that are much longer than the standard dressing of a given pattern. In this pattern the Caddis Variant offers the trout a larger silhouette to see that also gives a better illusion effect of wings in motion. Caddisflies are a very important aquatic insects to today's fly angler.
