Matuka: The term Matuka refers to the long wing feathers of the original pattern design that came from a Matuku bird native to New Zealand where this fly was first created. Use of Matuku feathers are now banned so modern alternatives are now used. Fish this fly down and across in a typical streamer technique with pauses between short erratic stripes. The pauses allow the long wing/tail to work its magic in the water.
