This is the famous Caddisfly Brachycentrus occidentalis locally called the Little Black Caddis or Grannom.

This pattern by Greg Garcia imitates the prolific Caddisfly Brachycentrus occidentalis. known for its dense hatches in late April and early May. Often called the Little Black Caddis or Grannom this species is very prevalent out West where trout really key in on this early season wonder of nature. This particular pattern imitates the natural quite well.
