Hot Legged Hopper: This is a great imitation by Dave Whitlock of the red legged hopper found in many spots of the Country. It is important to note that Orthopterans grow very slowly so when fishing this pattern you need to match the size of the naturals present to truly fish effectively. Grasshoppers are good swimmers and will push their strong back legs through the water to get back to dry land. Twitching this fly will often trigger strikes.
