Captain Joe Blados credits the evolution of the Crease Fly to his wife, who became tired of cleaning up foam dust after he was hollowing out foam popper heads with a Dremel tool. To solve the dust problem he began cutting sheet foam and folding it over a thread wound hook to createe the slim profile. What really made this design work was the various types of cyanoacrylate glues (Super Glue) that dried fast and held strong. Capitan Joe was a welder by trade who liked to draw and paint pictures on Harley's, skills which all came into play when building and perfecting the Crease Fly. Once the foam sheet body is cut and glued it is then painted by hand to create the final baitfish imitation. The Crease Fly foam body is quite versatile and can be cut to shape to create not only baitfish but also shrimp, crab, squid, eels as well as poppers and sliders. The best part of this truly innovative fly is that it really catches fish, and lots of them.
