Royal Coachman: This grandfather of all Attractor patterns was transformed as a dry fly in 1878 by John Haily from his little Fly Shop in New York City. The first Coachman style pattern originated in England around 1820 as a wet fly by Tom Bosworth who was Coachman to King George IV, and was first called the Winged Brown Hackle. The rest is almost 200 years of fly fishing history.
