Clouser's Darter: In 1984 Bob Clouser used weighted metallic dumbbell eyes to create a fly pattern that mimicked the action of a fleeing baitfish. He tied the pattern hook up and weight down to lessen the chance of snagging and thus created the Clouser Minnow. The key to this patterns effectiveness is that on the retrieve it never stops moving darting about just like a live baitfish would do. The color combinations in these Smallmouth targeted patterns create a very life-like look. You cannot have too many of these in your fly box.
