Insect Life Cycle Fly Selection - BWO

This Selection is of the very important and timeless pattern the Blue Wing Olive. We could write a book about this pattern as it is one of the most common upwinged flies tied in modern times. Specifically the BWO imitates the Family Baetidae, Genera: Baetis, Diphetor, Labiobaetis and Acerpenna. There are approximately sixty different species populating this complex of Genera with distribution in almost every trout stream in North America. These are extremely prolific mayflies that are an important component of the trout diet. Many species are most prolific in fertile streams and rivers where much aquatic vegetation is present. Hatches begin to take place in cool to cold weather conditions during the warmest part of the day from noon to 3:00 PM. In warm weather situations hatches will take place in Mornings and Evenings when the temperature is cooler. Summer hatching activity seems to be much more active in the Evening hours. In this Selection you will find three each BWO Duns in sizes 14 & 16, Parachute Duns in sizes 14 & 16, Nymphs in sizes 14 & 16 and Emergers in sizes 16 and 18. This Selection will insure that you are never streamside without this pattern.
