Callibatis Dun: Scientifically it is classified in the Family: Baetidae, Genus: Callibaetis also known as the Speckled Duns. Callibaetis Mayflies are predominately found in lakes, ponds and slow moving weedy stretches of Western Rivers and Streams. There are two species (C.fluctuans & C. pretiosus) that inhabit Midwest and Eastern waters however they are considered insignificant to fly anglers due to their sparse populations. Callibaetis hatches begin in May and run all the way into late October and even early November. During the cooler days of spring and fall hatches occur in the warmest part of the day. In the hot days of summer the opposite occurs with hatches taking place during the cooler times of early morning and late afternoon/early evening.
